The WGA is now in its second week of their strike against the AMPTP. The strike continues to garner national media attention as it has had an immediate effect on the late night talk shows including Late Show with David Letterman.
On Friday, November 9th, the WGA East issued a statement regarding the Ellen Degeneres Show to the effect that the guild is dissatisfied with her lack of support of the writers. Her show was off the air for one day and resumed its regular program the following day. The guild considers the work she is performing "struck work".
The statement can be read in full at http://www.wgaeast.org/index.php/articles/1050?wgra=1#wga1050.
The writers plan on striking Tuesday, November 13th at Battery Park to spread their message around the Financial District. On Wednesday, November 14th, the writers will picket the World of Disney Store on 5th Avenue.
In the LA area, writers have been picketing numerous studio locations. The WGA website was updated on Sunday, November 11th by asking picketers to bring their children to the lines with them.
