ReelAbilities Film Festival Runs April 3 to 10

ReelAbilities Film Festival New York will be celebrating its 16th year in 2024. Screenings and events with a focus on promoting awareness of and appreciation of lives, stories and artistic expression of people with disabilities are a part of this annual event. Disability inclusion and accessibility both on and off the screen workshops, international film selections, conversations, professional workshops, and art events are part of the programming.

The festival will run Wednesday, April 3 to Wednesday, April 10, 2024. The festival's main hub is the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan located at 334 Amsterdam Avenue on the Upper West Side. In addition to in-person events and screenings, on-demand online access will be available. Other participating venues include Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, DCTV Firehouse Cinema, Chelsea Factory, and the Museum of the Moving Image, as well as venues in Long Island and Westchester such as the Jacob Burns Film Center.

Opening night, The Times Center is the host venue that will include street level elevator access to the theater with wheelchair accessible seating and restrooms available. Located at 242 W 41st Street the evening will kick off at 6p.m. The opening night reception will include a spotlight award to Whoopi Goldberg, which will be followed by the film Ezra directed by Tony Goldwyn.

A ReelAbilities Industry Summit: Disability Inclusion and Equity in Film and Perfoming Arts is on the festival's schedule and a Reelabilites Comedy night too.

Join disabled artist Donald Lee and choreographer, director and filmmaker Heidi Latsky (Solo Flight), and director Dylan S. Tuccillo (Donald) for an evening of screenings and conversation about the intersection of dance and disability. Donald will screen along with Latsky's Solo Flight this Saturday, April 6 at 7:30p.m. at Lincoln Center.
