The 12th Annual Chelsea Film Festival announced the 2024 Opening Film: AND ON THE EIGHTH DAY.
A film celebrating tenacious, bold female characters, And On The Eighth Day, is an exploration of love, legacy, and greed that flips the heist and western genre on its head by telling the story through the female gaze.The film will be followed by Q&A with Filmmakers and Cast.
The festival program will highlight films from Independent or emerging filmmakers through regular screenings and world premieres. Ingrid Jean-Baptiste, Founder of the Chelsea Film Festival, stated: "Making the World a Better Place by Giving a Voice to the Unheard".
The festival schedule includes, Indie Episodics, Latin Filmmakers, French Films, Documentaries, Short Films and Narratives.
BEFORE WE BEGIN is the festival's closing film and will have the filmmaker and cast following the screening of this World Premiere at the Regal Union Square present for a Q&A. Director Shazeb Fahim says "Before We Begin" sets out to capture the moment in which we've decided what we must do, but have to find 'how' we're going to do it. Whether it be work, art, or love — or all three, as is so often the case — there comes a time for a leap of faith, in which we don't know what will happen on the other side, but must trust ourselves to pursue it."
The Chelsea Film Festival will hold its twelfth edition both in-person and online. The Regal Theaters 14th Street will serve as the in-person venue October 16-20. From October 16-31, the festival is accessible on FilmFestival+ (
