Newfest: NY's LGBTQ+ Film Festival Is Coming

NEWFEST NEW YORK'S LGBTQ+ FILM FESTIVAL - I'M COMING. YOU'RE COMING. will take place October 10-22 both in-person and streaming. You can immerse in 35+ years of Queer Film with Letterboxd. This year will be the 36th NEWFEST. The festival will open with A NICE INDIAN BOY with the film screening and party. Closing Night film and party will be EMILIA PEREZ. LIZA: A TRULY TERRIFIC, ABSOLUTELY TRUE STORY will be the New York Centerpiece.

FEMALE TROUBLE, the 1974 John Waters saga of delinquency, spans the life of self-proclaimed "thief and shit-kicker" Dawn Davenport. The film will celebrate a 50th anniversary screening on October 12, 2024, 8pm at BAM. There is also John Waters Threesome with back-to-back screenings of John Waters' PECKER (1988), POLYESTER (1981) and FEMALE TROUBLE (1974) on October 12th, starting at 2pm in BAM Theatre 3.

LOOKING FOR LANGSTON and TONGUES UNITED will double bill. The 35th Anniversary screening celebrates two groundbreaking works of Black queer male identity, expression and catharsis. The films will screen at BAM on October 11 at 7pm and virtually October 10 at 12pm and October 22 at 11:59pm.

The 2024 New Voices Filmmaker Grant recipients will show their short film works and hold conversation around what's to come.

SOMEBODY SOMEWHERE Season 3 starring Bridgett Everett will show episodes 1 and 2 at a Brunch screening scheduled October 19th, 2pm at Nitehawk Prospect Park.

THE TALENTED MR. RIPLEY film feast will be at Nitehawk Prospect Park , October 15 at 6:45pm. The 25th anniversary screening will be thematically curated with a multi-course meal.
