Film at Lincoln Center announced back in October of 2024 that the Spring 2025 Charlie Chaplin Award recipient will be Pedro Almodovar. This year will be the 50th Chaplin Award ceremony. Pedro Almodovar will be honored at a gala evening at Lincoln Center on April 28, 2025.

The announcement came after Almodovar's film The Room Next Door was getting ready to screen as the centerpiece film at the 62nd New York Film Festival. The film has won the Golden Lion at this year's Venice Film Festival and the film opened here locally at Film at Lincoln Center on December 20, 2024.

The filmmaker is recognized internationally and is celebrated in his home country of Spain. Directing 23 features and winning accolades including Academy Awards, Golden Globes and best director at Cannes all contribute to his career.  The tribute will feature experts of his work, appearances by co-stars, friends, colleagues and Almodovar in person to accept the award.
