Only Murders, Chalamet Win SAG Awards

(released 2/24/2025)

The 31st annual SAG Awards took place Sunday, February 23 at LA's Shrine Auditorium. With the Gothams, BAFTAs, and Globes in the bag, the SAGs are the last stop before the penultimate destination, the Oscars.

The multiple Actor winners were the TV show Shogun, which won three Actors®: best drama series ensemble, best actress in a drama series for Anna Sawai, and best actor in a drama series for Hiroyuki Sanada.

A New York production, Only Murders in the Building, won two Actors®. They won for best comedy series ensemble and best actor in a comedy series for Martin Short.  When they were awarded for ensemble, it was nice to see Richard Kind on stage, as he's a fellow UWSer.

Another NY standout Timothée Chalamet won best leading actor in a film for his work in A Complete Unknown. It shot in the city last Spring and is a biopic about legendary folk musician Bob Dylan.
