(released 9/16/2025)

A Quiet Passion will screen Thursday, September 18, 2025 at the Redstone Theater located at the Museum of Moving Image.

This 7pm screening is part of Terence Davies: Time and Present. The film screening will be followed by a Q&A with Cynthia Nixon. The film will be preceded by Passing Time, a 3 min short film from 2023.

Director Terence Davies' A Quiet Passion is with Cynthia Nixon, Jennifer Ehle, and Keith Carradine. This masterwork was named best movie of 2017 by Reverse Shot.

Cynthia Nixon performs as Emily Dickinson. Nixon embodies the wit, intellectual independence, and personal pathos of the poet whose genius only came to be recognized after her death. Terence Davies evokes Dickinson's deep attachment to her close-knit family with the manners, mores and spiritual convictions of her time that she struggled with and transcended in her poetry.
