George Clinton Revisits 20 Years since Cosmic Slop

(released 10/13/2014)

George Clinton's innovation and collaboration a.k.a the P-Funk All Stars is not the only creation from this funk music leader. On October 27, 2014, the Museum of Moving Image will host the legendary Clinton for an evening of reflection, conversation, and sharing.

The event will start with a screening of Cosmic Slop, which was hosted by Clinton.  Cosmic Slop was originally broadcast on HBO twenty years ago.  At the time, it was controversial for airing the racial and economic voices it brought to the consciousness of mind.

George Clinton will be in person for conversation with moderator James Mtume, a former member of Miles Davis' band, and current NY radio talk show host. Following the moderated discussion, George Clinton will share his new book "Brothas Be, Yo Like George, Ain't That Funkin' Kinda Hard on You?: A Memoir" (2014, Atria Books), with a book signing.

The Museum of Moving Image is located at 30-01 35 Avenue Astoria. The George Clinton screening and live event is part of Changing the Picture (2014). For more information about the museum or the evening with George Clinton, go to www.movingimage.us or call 718-777-6888.
