More Than Just Books at the Library

New York Public Library offers more than books. Some branches offer movie screenings and Cinema Clubs as well. For example, the St. Agnes Branch, located on the Upper West Side on Amsterdam between 81st and 82nd Street, has a Saturday Afternoon Movie schedule for the month of January 2026. It is also having a Cinema Club and Discussion Group on January 15 at 5:30pm.

The Saturday Afternoon Movie schedule for January 2026 at the St. Agnes Library is:

Theme: Love Stories, Part II.

When Harry Met Sally (1989) - January 10, 2PM
Her (2014) - January 17, 2PM
Harold and Maude (1971) - January 24, 2PM
His Girl Friday (1940) - January 31, 2PM

The screenings will take place in The Community Room. Screenings are 18+; no registration is required. Seating is first come-first serve. 444 Amsterdam Avenue, New York, NY 10024 is library address.

On January 15th is when the group discussion of Ingmar Bergman's film Wild Strawberries (1957) will happen. No registration required for this 18+ evening event. Thursday, January 15 at 5:30PM this free to attend movie discussion will allow you to hear what your neighbors' thoughts on the film are as well as share your own feelings on the film. You can also come to just listen.

Be sure to screen the film before the meeting. DVD copies of the film are available on the 2nd floor desk for checkout. You may also find the film by using the website www.justwatch.com to find public streaming platforms.
