Free Screening of Black Barbie at Idlewild Center

(released 3/25/2026)

Fourth Friday Film Festival is being presented by Eastern Queens Alliance Inc. at the Idlewild Environmental Center. On Friday, March 27th, 2026 from 7:00PM-9:30PM, BLACK BARBIE will screen.

"Black Barbie" explores how the first official Black Barbie came to life in 1980 and why that moment mattered culturally, socially, and personally for generations of Black girls. It traces the story through the women at Mattel who pushed for representation and examines how dolls shape identity and self-image.

Get in the spirit and wear pink. Attendees are invited but not required to wear pink. This evening film screening is a free to attend event.

Idlewild Environmental Center is located at 222-02 149th Ave, Springfield Gardens, NY 11413 (at the intersection of 149th Ave and Springfield Lane).
