26th Annual Havana Film Festival NY is May 1-7

(released 4/28/2026)

The 26th Annual Havana Film Festival New York is happening May 1-7, 2026. They have been celebrating Latin American cinema since 2000. Their theme this year is From Caracas to Havana. The festival opens May 1 with the thriller It Would Be Night in Caracas and closes May 7 with My Cuban Dream. Opening Night will be at the DGA Theater with the remainder of the festival screenings at Quad Cinema from May 2–7.

"In this year's program, the Havana Film Festival New York seeks not only to present some of the most relevant and award-winning films, but also to open spaces for dialogue. Programs such as "Cinema of Belonging: Jewish Stories from Latin America" bring together works by filmmakers of Jewish heritage from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, and from Latino-Jewish communities in the United States, reflecting on identity, memory, and belonging. Likewise, "Her Lense, Her Story", proposes an urgent conversation about the feminine—what defines us, challenges us, and also harms us, through women directors and women’s stories." — Diana Vargas, Artistic Director, HFFNY

A total of 19 films will compete for the Havana Star Prize—awarded in both fiction and documentary categories—during the Closing Night ceremony on May 7.
