Mosquito in the Ear at Cinema Village This Week

(released 6/21/2026)

A Mosquito in the Ear, which opened the Brooklyn Film Festival in May, is now playing at Cinema Village through Thursday, June 25th. It opened a weeklong run on Friday, June 19th and the 4pm screening had many of the principals in attendance for a Q&A.

The feature, based on a true story, is about a American couple adopting a child from India. The couple has prepared to have a family for years, yet maybe they aren't ready.

There is nuance and depth to this story. One subtle distinction of note is that there are no subtitles. If you don't speak Hindi, you won't know what some of the conversations are about. That felt disorienting at first, but that puts the audience in the shoes of the protagonists.

Jake Lacy and Nazanin Boniadi are the couple. At times, you feel like each may not be ready, like they are failing a test. But you also feel them, because this is life and it's a new experience for everyone. Micky Singh, playing Sister Aruna, is a guide, but almost more on how to be human than parents. The young actress Ruhi Pal, as noted in the Q&A discussion (see video), is a scene stealer.

You can get tickets to A Mosquito in the Ear at https://www.cinemavillage.com. The film is being distributed by Persimmon (Narrative Distribution).

Here is a video and photos of the Q&A with the director Nicola Rinciari, actors Jake Lacy and Nazanin Boniadi, and producers Emily Dillard and Darren Dean.
