NY Mental Health Film Festival Brings Awareness

The New York Mental Health Film Festival is a day of access and awareness. On Saturday, September 26, 2015, 6 films representing life with mental illness will screen. Filmmakers plan to attend and participate in Q&A's with audiences.

Demian Pictures will bring to the festival the US premiere of "No Letting Go". The film's score was recorded by the Filmharmonic Symphony Orchestra in Prague.

Festivities will be held at Village East Cinema 181-189 2nd Ave. (212) 529-6998. "Cracking Up" is also on the program and will be making a New York premiere. The film documents a year following stand up comedians as they explore themselves through humor. David Granirer, the President of Stand Up For Mental Health, is also scheduled to attend the day of films.

Actor John Turturro narrates the film "How to Touch a Hot Stove" communicating the new civil rights movement to destigmatize mental illness. The film captures the perspectives and human experiences that add to our understanding of mental health.
