CongestedCat IndieWorks Farewell to Peoples Lounge

The Peoples Lounge has served as the home for many of CongestedCat's film oriented functions for two and a half years. Film premieres, wrap parties, and the increasingly popular series IndieWorks that highlights New York indie filmmakers’ work including short films and webisodes. The bar will be closing as of January. As a thank you and celebration of the host bar, CongestedCat is inviting local film lovers, filmmakers, and alumni of the IndieWorks programs to join them January 6th at 7:30p.m. for a farewell party in Peoples Lounge honor. The Lounge, located at 163 Allen Street in the Lower East Side, and its proprietors share the IndieWorks community philosophy of supporting local artists and providing an informal environment for them to screen and mingle about the work they are producing.

The January IndieWorks screening will be on hold while the CongestedCat crew searches for a new home. The goal is to be settled in a new location and resume screenings in February. If you have any suggestions for a non-profit minded film series, please email indieworks@congestedcat.com with suggestions. The group averages about 50 participants and has seen numbers swell to 130 on occasions. The future of the series is projected for growth.
