Sunnyside Comedy Series Airing Thursdays This Fall

Sunnyside will broadcast on NBC on Thursdays and premiere on September 26 at 9:30p.m. / 8:30p.m. Central. A young council member of SunnySide Queens lives the political high life, until he is recorded intoxicated and entitled in nature to the point of loosing his place in office. Lost, he finds purpose and hope for redemption in a group of locals of Sunnyside, Queens striving to become American citizens. The show features real time issues in a neighborhood situational comedy setting. By the time you finish the first episode, you too may be using the word disco as a verb.

Kal Penn plays failed politician Garrett Modi, the series lead. Garrett is unemployed and now living with his sister. Although he rose to political fame at the youngest to hold office age, life is showing him he has room to grow.

Kal Penn is recognized for his role in the Harold and Kumar film series and the TV show House. Penn also served as a Former Associate Director, White House Office of Public Liaison for the Obama Administration.

The show was set and made in New York City.
