New York Takes Home 36 Emmy Awards

(released 9/27/2019)

According to Empire State Development, New York's chief economic development agency, 14 NY-based productions took home 36 Emmy Awards.  Of these, 11 were New York City productions taking home 33 Emmy Awards.

Eight of the fourteen participated in the New York State Film Production Tax Credit Program. The agency also noted productions generated $392 million in NY spending and created 19,300 plus new hires across the state.

Also in the State agency's release, Empire State Development Acting Commissioner and President & CEO-designate Eric Gertler said, "Film and TV productions are an economic engine for New York, investing millions of dollars locally and hiring tens of thousands of workers every year. Congratulations to this year's New York-based Emmy winners on their accomplishments, and sincere thanks for choosing our state, where the talented people, iconic backdrops and energy are assets for the entertainment industry.  We hope more productions will consider New York State as the obvious site for filming in the future."

"The number of awards and nominations for our 'Made in NY' productions signals that New York City is indeed a TV town rich in talent and creativity," said NYC Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment Commissioner, Anne del Castillo. "We're so proud of all the nominees and winners, the more than 130,000 New Yorkers who work in the industry, and the collective efforts of local businesses, communities, and city officials, among others to make New York City the best place in the world to produce television and film."

The following is a list of the New York-based 2019 Emmy Award Winners.  All of these winners were based out of New York City with the exceptions of Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown (CNN Films) and RBG (CNN Films).

** Did not participate in the New York State Tax Credit but was produced or completed post-production in New York.
