Lena Waithe Caps Black History Salute at Paley

Paley Center will celebrate Black History Month with a special spotlight on comedy and BET's 40th anniversary. A SALUTE TO BLACK ACHIEVEMENTS IN TELEVISION.

The exhibit is free and open to the public Wednesdays to Sundays 12-6p.m., Thursdays till 8p.m., and closed Mondays and Tuesdays. The Paley Center for Media New York is located at 25 West 52 Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues. Tickets are available on a first come first serve basis at the door. Rare artifacts like SNL's Gumby costume, costumes worn in ABC's Live in Front of a Studio Audience: Norman Lear's All in the Family and The Jeffersons. The couch from The Jeffersons will also be on display. A special section will detail the history of BET as the network celebrates 40 years of Black Entertainment Television.

Rounding out the events is a PALEYLIVE ticketed event that has Lena Waithe and the producers of BET's Boomerang and Twenties. Screenings at the month long celebration include honoring The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, In Living Color, Everybody Hates Chris, Flip Wilson and black stars in hit sitcoms and television specials.
