MTV's VMA Awards Will Air Live Sunday August 30th

The 2020 MTV VMA's will be airing live on Sunday, August 30, 2020 at 8p.m.

Ariana Grande (9), Lady Gaga (9), Billie Elish (6) and The Weeknd (6) lead in nominations. The VMA's is the first major awards show to reveal nominations via voice tweets. This year's show includes new categories "Best Music Video From Home" and "Best Quarantine Performance".

"We're excited to unveil the incredible list of VMA nominees who shaped this year's unique music landscape and bring fans a show that celebrates the powerful unifying force of music," said Bruce Gillmer, President of Music, Music Talent, Programming & Events for ViacomCBS Media Networks.

Keke Palmer will be hosting the live awards show. Most recently, Keke Palmer was nominated for a 2020 Emmy Award for co-hosting the popular daytime series GMA3: Strahan, Sara, and Keke. Palmer has been active for over twenty years on stage, TV, and films. Bruce Gillmer was quoted as saying "Keke is an energetic force and a quadruple threat with unmatched comedic wit who will make this year’s show truly unforgettable."

BTS will perform for the first time ever on the VMA's and it will be the TV debut of their new, English-only single, "Dynamite" which is set to release August 21. Doja Cat, J Balvin, The Weeknd, Roddy Ricch, Maluma and CNCO, are also performing. Lady Gaga will return to the VMA stage for the first time since 2013 to bring her chart topping Chromatica album to life.

Fans can vote for their favorites across 15 gender-neutral categories, including "Video of the Year," "Artist of the Year," "Best Quarantine Performance," and more by visiting www.mtv.com/vma through August 23, 2020. Voting for "PUSH Best New Artist, Presented by Chime Banking," will remain open.
