Leslie Moonves & Nina Tassler's future "Late Show"

President and CEO of CBS Corporation Leslie Moonves and Nina Tassler of CBS Entertainment announced today, April 10, 2014, that Stephen Colbert will be the Late Show with David Letterman successor. Colbert, currently at the Colbert Report on Comedy Central will transition as soon as David Letterman determines the timeline for his own departure in 2015.
"Stephen Colbert is one of the most inventive and respected forces on television," said Moonves. "David Letterman's legacy and accomplishments are an incredible source of pride for all of us here, and today's announcement speaks to our commitment of upholding what he established for CBS in late night."
David Letterman said, "Stephen has always been a real friend to me. I’m very excited for him, and I'm flattered that CBS chose him. I also happen to know they wanted another guy with glasses."
Details of a "Colbert-hosted Late Show" are still being determined and forthcoming.
