Silent Clowns Honors Historic Brooklyn Film Studio

Silent Clowns Film Series is happening September 21 at 2:30p.m. The series screenings of silent rare films will take place at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts - Bruno Walter Auditorium. You can enter via 111 Amsterdam Avenue between 64th and 65th Street, NY 10023-7498. This free afternoon screening includes live piano accompaniment by MoMA's Ben Model with an introduction by film historians Model and Steve Massa. 

This screening event will feature Brooklyn's Vitagraph Film Company an early American Film Studio that made all kinds of silent pictures. They had great success on creating situational comedies. John Bunny was one of the studios stars best remembered. This series screening includes other players from the studio "such as Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Drew, Flora Finch, Frank Daniels, Hughie Mack and Edith Storey in Sweeney's Christmas Bird (1914), Boobley's Baby (1915), Jane's Bashful Hero (1916), Captain Jenks' Cure (1917), Bullies and Bullets (1917) and Damsels and Dandies (1919).''
